January 31st

Sigh. Almost February!  Well, most of today consisted of me finishing up tax info for my husband (he takes care of the taxes, but always asks me for my mileage, expenses, etc. since I am a freelance musician), and I'm ashamed to admit that I did a terrible job of keeping track most of last year.  Other than saving receipts from teaching/music-related purchases, I've gotten into the habit of procrastinating and then scrambling to remember certain gigs/special trips I've made throughout the year.  Really quite disorganized.  My goal is to start keeping better records and to do them on a regular basis, so that I'm not doing it all at once come tax season. Sometimes, I honestly wish I didn't do what I do; we always end up owing way more because of my job.  On top of which, I wouldn't even have insurance or other perks if it weren't for my husband's job.  Even though we both graduated with the same major, he was smart and quickly found a different career pa

17 Weeks and Some Pictures

It's been awhile since I've put up some pictures.  I need to work on that, especially for when the baby comes!  After entering the 2nd trimester I had a few days where I really wasn't feeling great and finally threw up.  So I joined that club, unfortunately.  Currently, I'm totally fine.  I hit 17 weeks yesterday and in a couple of weeks we will have the anatomy scan and find out the gender!       Here is my almost-98-year-old grandmother on my Dad's side, from when we ate dim sum for my 32nd birthday last December:                                  Sesame Chicken that I made for dinner earlier this week--so good!                            And finally, even though I hate selfies, I had to document my growing belly:) Other meals I've made recently include: Spicy chili, Sticky honey garlic sirracha chicken, salmon with roasted veggies, homemade skyline and Shrimp pad thai (no kit, the real thing!) It's hard sometimes to plan me

Back to Normal, 2015

You know, I read posts on my blog roll pretty regularly, but am so forgetful about posting my own updates.  I go through details in my own head and I think I get confused on if I've already written about something or not--must be the pregnancy brain people talk about?! Anyway!  Christmas came and went!  We announced our good news to my husband's family and they were shocked first and then beyond excited. (Later I learned the shock was because they all secretly believed we would never have children--at 32, I am supposedly "old" lol) I went in earlier this week for a routine check up with my OB and heard the baby's heartbeat on the Doppler ultrasound.  I am opting to skip all genetic testing, which would happen in a few weeks if I chose to go through with it.  I was pretty sure even before getting pregnant that I wanted to skip that part, mostly because if I discovered any abnormalities, it would not change my desire to have this baby.  Also, my next appointment
